With breathtaking views over Harcourt Valley’s bush lands and vineyards, Shepherd’s Flat Lookout is truly something to behold. It looks across the peaks of Tarrengower and the Pyrenees range as well as to Mt Kooroocheang near Smeaton.
The lookout also marks the start of a downhill walking track that leads to the famed Oak Forest at Picnic Gully. The descent takes about an hour to complete.
Shepherd’s Flat Lookout is accessible on foot via a short path that starts near the large Telstra Repeater station—a large tower at the top of Mount Alexander. The West Ridge walking track also passes this spot.
