Harcourt Swimming Pool Future in Doubt
11 Mar 10
At a council meeting on the 23rd Feb 2010 Council resolved to support the recommendations of a report that will recommends the commencement of an information process in regards to a new Aquatic Study. The Study, among other things, recommends the closing of the Harcourt Swimming Pool so that they can fund the ongoing operations of a new indoor new pool.
This is a change to the last Mount Alexander Aquatic Facilities Review that went to Council in July 2007 that recommended the Harcourt Swimming Pool remain open as part of the review's option for a new pool. Click here for a copy of the report.
It is envisaged an number of local residents will be raising this further in the community now that applefest has concluded for this year. We Have already had great support from the Premier, the Casltlemaine Mail and Win TV. (Click Hyperlinks to see reports).
What Can you Do?
Write to the local papers, fill in a feedback form, tell your neighbours so that as many people know what is happening, sign the petition at the Harcourt General Store, read the report, the Aquatic Study or the Study's executive report.
The Council Information session is to be held on Wednesday 17th March 5-7 at the Harcourt Leisure Centre, the session was to be one on one to ask Council officers questions about the new Aquatic centre. The session will now be in a different format where we will be able to make presentations. It has been we coordinate the presentations so that we cover different arguments/issues. There will be a report going back to Council in the future to decide about the future of the Aquatic Strategy and it's recommendations.
The date for written submissions has been extended until the 9th April 2010
