Apple Pie Eating Competition claims credit for gfc fix
in january 2009, the harcourt applefest apple pie eating competition set out to FIX the GLOBAL ECONOMIC CRISIS and gain NATIONAL RECOGNITION. just one year later we are celebrating our success with the HARCOURT APPLEFEST’s APPLE PIE EATING COMPETITION for 2010. once again the committee HAS ORGANISED HEATS throughout the shire of mount alexander.
The first heat will be held at the Kangaroo Hotel Maldon at 3:00pm on Saturday 30th January 2009 when one hundred riders from the American Motorcycle Club hit town. The club has decided to join in the fun.
Garry Holmes, chair of the Applefest committee, welcomed their participation but doubted the ability of the riders to best the local competition, “I know they ride ‘Hogs’ but our shire has the biggest bacon factory and Harcourt has the apples to make the sauce! Let’s see how the winners of the heats compete with former champion (2008), Michael (Pretty Boy) Henry of Henry’s of Harcourt Cidermakers”.
The finals of the Apple Pie Eating Competition will be held on Saturday 6th March, 2010 at the 19th Annual Harcourt Applefest which runs from March 5th to 8th.
