Dog Rocks

dogrocks

Near the peak of Mt Alexander, you’ll find huge, picturesque granite outcrops just a short walk from Joseph Young Drive. They’re called Dog Rocks. Over the years, they’ve become a favourite stopover landmark for bush walkers and a popular spot for climbers and abseiling too.

Back in the nineteenth century, many dingos were seen around the rocks. That’s why Lockhart Morton—manager of Sutton Grange station—gave them their name in 1846.
